Wake Robotics

Wake Robotics is a non-profit in Cary/Apex, NC. It is made up entirely of volunteers who see the benefits of bringing science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), leadership and 21st century skills to the next generation. Wake Robotics does not run robotics teams, but instead, hopes to create a community of people who are helping bring those skills to the next generation.

Mission Statement:
The mission of Wake Robotics, Inc. is to promote and inspire interest and learning in science, engineering, and technology within its communities; and to develop skills in leadership, business, teamwork, communication and other life areas among both the students and adults.



FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an organization founded by Dean Kamen. The overall international involvement in FIRST (all 4 robotics programs) is huge:

  • 293,000+ students
  • 26,800+ teams
  • 24,000+ robots
  • 51,000 Mentors/adult supporters
  • 50,000 other Volunteers (e.g. events Volunteers, Operational and Affiliate Partners)
